Question:Are E&M services separately billable with radiation oncology services?

Answer:According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CNS), except for an initial visit at which the decision to perform radiation therapy is made, evaluation and management (E&M) services are not separately billable with radiation oncology services, except with CPT codes 77770–77772 (remote after-loading high-dose rate radionuclide brachytherapy…). E&M services billed with these brachytherapy codes must be significant, separate and distinct from radiation treatment management services.
